Talks stall as Burma refuses to meet KIO in China again

MAI JA YANG, Burma— According to sources in the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) the latest round of peace talks between Burma's second strongest armed ethnic group and representatives of the Burmese government were delayed this week due to the Burmese delegation's refusal to meet in China, site of two previous rounds of negotiations.

KIA attacks Burma army convoy in Kachin State

KIO STARED ARMED STRUGGLE AGAINST THE BURMESE GOVERNMENT FOR SELF-DETERMINATION STATE SINCE 1961.

LAIZA, Burma — Several trucks belonging to a military convoy in Kachin state were severely damaged Friday following a series of road side bombs.  The convoy was attacked near the Mali Hka River outside Japu village in Waingmaw township in Kachin State, according to witnesses in the area.

3 Burma army soldiers fall in battle in Kachin State

LAIZA, Burma— Three soldiers from the Burmese Army were killed and five injured on Wednesday, after a six hour battle between government forces and members of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) took place near Sinbo in central Kachin State, local villagers told the Kachin News Group.
