The Burma Army raided an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp located inside a Kachin Baptist church compound in Sar Maw Village on the Myitkyina to Mandalay Railway line on 18 September.

About 300 Burmese soldiers wearing civilian clothes have allegedly entered China in small groups since 3 September as part of a planned offensive against the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO) said a border military affairs observer.

Kachin Church leaders tell US government about shooting death of Myitkyina student

During a visit to the United States earlier this month, Christian leaders from the Kachin community informed American government officials in Washington DC about the recent shooting death of a Kachin student named Gum Seng Awng. The 19 year old student was shot dead by a Burma army soldier on the night of June 20th in the Kachin state capital Myitkyina.

A headmaster at an elementary school in north western Shan State has been accused of seizing land belonging to local residents after improperly deeming their land vacant. The alleged land seizures took place in Loi Kung village of Pan Kai village group in Kutkai Township.
