August-15, 2011--- Fighting between Kachin
Independence Army (KIA) troops and the Burmese Army took place on Monday, near
Namtu, in Northern Shan State, local sources said.
The KIA troops were from Battalion 8, based in Namtu,
according to KIA officials.
