KIA attacks Burmese troops in Nam San Yang
After a week with no fighting, Kachin Independence Army (KIA) troops attacked Burmese government troops in the village of Nam San Yang, on Myitkyina-Manmaw Road, in Kachin State, yesterday, KIA officers said.
The short attack happened around 7 p.m. and was carried out by soldiers from KIA’s Battalion 23 under Brigade 5, said a KIA officer at the Laiza headquarters, in eastern Kachin State.
There were causalities among government troops in the attack but no independent report has been released so far.
