KIA and Burmese troops clash at Hkringmu Dan

Two KIA women soldiers secure Laiza headquarters.

A brief skirmish, lasting 15-minutes, took place Thursday (Sept. 8) at about 3:30 p.m. between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Burmese government troops at Hkringmu Dan village, near Loije, in Manmaw District, Kachin State, local people said.

The fighting was between troops from the KIA’s Battalion 16 and Burmese troops from the Shwenyaungbin-based Light Infantry Battalion No. 321, said KIA officers.

No information about casualties has been released by either side.
