Two Burmese soldiers killed at Manje
Two Burmese government soldiers were killed during an hour-long battle with the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) at Manje (Mansi) Town, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Kachin State, witnesses said.
The dead soldiers were from Infantry Battalion No. 47, based in Manmaw (Bhamo), which was fighting with troops from KIA Battalion No. 1, said witnesses.
The battle happened at Ywa Thit Kone, close to the town, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. local time.
KIA officials at the Laiza headquarters said the KIA troops attacked more than 100 government troops as they marched to Manje.
On the same day, fighting continued at Hka La Kadawng, near Namsan Yang Village, on the Myitkyina-Manmaw Road, between government troops from the Numlang-based Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) No. 438, witnesses said.
There were casualties among the Burmese soldiers, however, the exact figure is not known, said KIA officers at the front lines.
